The Hollies, London
Overview
The Hollies in Balham, London are purpose-built apartment blocks that required recladding to replace the non-compliant existing cladding that had been in place since 2008. The client, Wandsworth Council instructed architects, BPG Architects and Surveyors to select a replacement cladding that met new fire testing regulations and would visually match the previous facade.
SBS Cladding worked with sub-contractors Quba Construction to supply Alucobond® A2 fire rated cladding, framing and associated fixings to the project, which was managed by main contractors Quinn London Ltd.
It was important to the architects and client that the chosen cladding system was a visual match for the previous cladding that was to be removed from the facade. Alucobond® panels in the colour Pure White with a 30% gloss were therefore selected, along with fixings that were chosen in a close matched shade of white. SBS Cladding optimised the board yield and minimised the amount of wastage by using specialist machinery to get the most out of each panel. Once cut to size, the panels were delivered to site ready for installation.
